Fact Check: Alleged Doctor Attack Show Exposed as Deepfake

In this clip, a news anchor says that another panelist hit a doctor during a news argument. The video starts with the attack and then cuts to the doctor talking about it and then saying he had made a new heart medicine that would help keep heart diseases at bay.

Someone on Facebook shared the video and wrote, “Shocking attack on Dr. Deviprasad Shetty, famous cardiologist.” Please spread it around. He needs to be killed. From its past, you can see this.

Fact Check that the video going popular was not real. There is no proof that Dr. Devi Shetty was harmed during a live show. The news anchor’s voice and the doctor’s voice were both changed.

OUR PROBE

We saw that neither the reporter nor the doctor’s words matched up with the way their lips moved. This made it sound like the sound had been changed digitally, probably with AI tools.

Then, we looked backwards through keyframes from the fight in the viral video. This led us to the original clip that News Nation shared on their YouTube channel. The video from January 13, 2017, showed the controversial religious leader and former “Bigg Boss” contestant Swami Om getting into a fight during a TV discussion. It didn’t say anything about Dr. Devi Shetty in the YouTube film.

“BQ Exclusive: Dr. Devi Shetty on Health, Heart & Healing” by searching backwards through keyframes from the part of the popular video where the doctor talked about his new medicine.

During this conversation, Dr. Shetty talked about a number of health issues, such as heart disease, diabetes, the lack of doctors, and health insurance. But, unlike the video that went viral, there was no talk of drug makers or an endorsement of any medicine. We also looked on the internet to see if Dr. Shetty had backed any heart disease medicines, but we didn’t find any reports that said that.

From this, it’s clear that this is not a real news story. The unrelated movies where the voices of the speakers were changed to give a false account of what happened.
