Fact Check: CM Dhami’s Alleged Money Distribution During Uttarakhand’s Lok Sabha Elections?

Fact Check: CM Dhami’s Alleged Money Distribution During Uttarakhand’s Lok Sabha Elections?

On social media, a video is getting viral that says Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami gave out money before the Lok Sabha elections in 2024. The video was uploaded by @AdarshKatiyaINC on X.

The title for the video says that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was caught giving out money in public. Some people tried to connect this to the current Lok Sabha elections by saying that Dhami gave out money during those elections.

What fact check unveiled?

Asia TV checked the facts and found that this movie was from a long time ago and had nothing to do with the Lok Sabha elections.

The video first came to light during the Uttarakhand Assembly elections in 2022, when an AAP candidate made the same accusation against Pushkar Singh Dhami.

On February 13, 2022, the Uttarakhand unit of the AAP posted this video on social media with the question, “What’s going on in Khatima?” After the election, Pushkar Singh Dhami is giving out money. SS Kaler, an AAP candidate, tried to turn off the camera when he saw Dhami giving out money in public. The Election Commission and CEO need to pay attention to this.

Shiv Arora’s name is written on the package seen in the video. He won the election in 2022 and is now a BJP MLA from Rudrapur in Uttarakhand. It was also found in old news that Shiv Arora was charged with giving out money in boxes during the Uttarakhand elections of 2022.

What was the conclusion?

Some reports were checked and found to be false. The video of CM Dhami going viral is from 2022. It has nothing to do with the Lok Sabha polls in 2024. But there are attempts to cause confusion while the Lok Sabha polls are going on.
