Fact Check: Congress Workers Did Not Obstruct Uddhav’s Speech – Here’s the Truth

At a recent gathering in Wardha, Maharashtra, did workers for the Congress party get in the way of Uddhav Thackeray’s speech?

Many people shared a video of Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray trying to talk but being cut off by several men. The video was meant to attack the Maha Vikas Aghadi, which is the Maharashtra alliance made up of the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), the grand old party, and the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar).

Someone on X shared the video and wrote, “What a fall!” Uddhav Thackeray is another name for someone who has no shame. Watch how people working for the Congress party in Wardha wouldn’t let Uddhav speak at a gathering. “These people are going to fight Modi,” Some people also said that no one would have been brave enough to do the same thing to Bal Thackeray. This post’s history can be found here.

The popular movie was changed. Uddhav Thackeray didn’t want to give a long speech at the Wardha gathering because he was short on time. Workers at the party ask him to talk longer in the video that went viral.

OUR PROBE

Through a keyword search, we were able to find a longer version of the video that went viral on ABP Majha’s YouTube account. Its Marathi title said that Uddhav Thackeray spoke badly about Nitin Gadkari at a gathering in Wardha, Maharashtra.

The video starts with the part that went popular, which shows Thackeray talking to other leaders on stage. But after they talked, Thackeray gave his speech without anyone else being there.

This was taken at a gathering for Amar Kale on April 22 in Hinganghat, which is in the Wardha district. Kale is a three-time MLA for the NCP (Sharad Pawar) and the Maha Vikas Aghadi candidate from Wardha. Besides Thackeray, other important people from the area like Sharad Pawar, Amar Kale, and others spoke at the event.

This rally’s live stream was then found on Mumbai Tak’s YouTube account. The speech by Amar Kale on stage began just after the 50-minute mark. In the middle, someone walked up to the boss and cut him off. Following this, Kale left the stage and Uddhav Thackeray was asked to take it.

Some people from the party were talking to Thackeray as he reached for the mic. During this, Thackeray was heard saying “Five minutes,” while the other leaders were heard saying “No, 15 minutes.” Someone on the stage even put their hands together in front of Thackeray, who smiled. Then Thackeray gave a 10-minute speech that was cut short by a question.

This gathering was put together by Sharad Pawar, who is the State Secretary General of the NCP. Wandile said the spreading claims were not true and told what really happened.

“Some of our leaders’ speeches got longer, and Uddhav Thackeray had a few events planned in Nagpur,” he said. Thackeray told me I had to leave early for the events in Nagpur, so I would only be able to talk for five minutes. Then we told him, “A lot of people have come here to listen to you, so don’t talk for five minutes. Talk for ten to fifteen minutes, or as long as you can.”

So, it’s clear that Congress workers in Wardha did not get in the way of Uddhav Thackeray’s speech.
