Fact Check: Did LK Advani of BJP Really Call Rahul Gandhi the “Hero of Indian Politics”?

Did LK Advani, a leader in the BJP, praise Congress leader Rahul Gandhi by calling him an Indian political hero?

A keyword search for “Advani Rahul Gandhi praises” did not turn up any news stories about that comment.

The fact checker saw that the popular claims were accompanied by a link to what looked like a news site called Avadh Bhoomi. They looked up the story on the website but couldn’t find a report like that. The link to the article also didn’t lead to it.

One more search turned up a Hindi fact-check article from onlyfact.in on May 9, 2024. Onlyfact.in said they called the news outlet and they denied that Mr. Advani said that. When they were asked who the source was, the outlet said they were taking down the story.

On the Avadh Bhumi website, there is a disclaimer that says, “All information on this website – https://avadhbhumi.com/ – is published in good faith and for general information purposes only.” The website avadhbhumi.com does not promise that this information is full, correct, or reliable.
