Fact Check: Exposing the Truth Behind Alleged Fake Fingers in Bengal’s Lok Sabha Voting

A picture of fake fingers has gone popular on social media during the Lok Sabha Election that is still going on. People are sharing the picture that has gone popular with the claim that fake fingers were used to vote in West Bengal. People have said false things about Rohingya Muslims using this technology to vote more than once.

Vishvas News, this claim was false and tricked them. The fake finger shot that went viral was found to be from Japan.

A social media post showed a fake finger and said that “Bangladeshi and Rohingya” settlers in West Bengal were using the technology to cast fake votes. “To hide the ink on the finger, they vote again and again by wearing a fake finger!” Read the post that went popular and was shared by Tarun Dubey on Facebook. A lot of people on social media shared the picture with similar claims.

Fact Check: Truth Behind Fake Fingers

Vishvas News looked into the picture of fake fingers that went popular and found that it was not real. The fact checkers at Vishvas News first used Google Reverse Image search to find out where the picture that went viral came from. The image that went popular was found on the account of Dr. S. Y. Qureshi, who used to be on Twitter. The person who posted the poto on February 21, 2017, linked it to the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections. A lot of people have said in the comments that these fake fingers were made in Japan. The Vishvas News team then used keywords that were linked to the fake fingers to look for it.

The study came out on June 6, 2013. According to the story, the picture of the fake fingers going viral comes from Japan. They were made by a doctor named Yukako Fukushima for people who had lost their fingers. This fake finger was also made by Yukako Fukushima for a member of the Yakuza, Japan’s drug gang. People are now sharing a picture of these fake fingers with false claims that they have something to do with the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.
